Margarita Méndez was born and lived all her life in the Ca Manolín house in Medal. When she was a teenager, her father bought a John Deere tractor to make the farm work easier: “I've been at home for fifty years and I've been in Castilla for more than fifteen years, so you add up what you have, but we keep it very well, eh - says Margarita with a smile.

When Margarita got married and was left in charge of her parents' farm, the John Deere was a great help to her, as her husband was a sailor and for much of the year the work on the farm fell directly to her: " This tractor was the love of my life. You never know how much I worked with it, because my husband was a sailor, so I took care of everything. Thanks to my brothers, whatever happened to me there, the poorest people came to help me " - she recalls nostalgically.

Today, Margarita is retired and her work has been taken over by one of her daughters who has replaced the old John Deere with a more modern tractor; however, Màrgara, as she is called in the village, insists on using it occasionally: " the same one, until I go to another world " - she says excitedly.
